Dr. Ryan Comeaux and his team at Comeaux Dental are looking forward to helping patients take this important step towards improving their oral health.

Benefits of a Dental Cleaning at Comeaux Dental in The Woodlands & Spring

A routine dental cleaning begins with a thorough dental exam by Dr. Comeaux or one of the skilled staff members. During your dental cleaning, Dr. Comeaux and his staff will examine your gums and teeth. We will look for signs of gum disease, tooth decay, and cavities. During the exam, you will be able to discuss any dental concerns or issues with your dentist and also discuss home remedies to improve your oral health.

Once the dentist has finished the exam, it is time for the cleaning. This procedure is handled by a skilled dental hygienist. Professional teeth cleaning procedure is painless and simple. Patients love the instant cosmetic results and the fresh, minty feeling that follows treatment. Your dental hygienist can also clean your teeth and check for any periodontal disease or gingivitis.

Professional Teeth Cleaning Removes Plaque and Bacteria

The bacteria living in your mouth are constantly growing. Regular brushing and avoiding sugary foods will help keep bacteria away. Plaque, a naturally occurring layer on teeth that allows bacteria to flourish, is an example. Bad breath, tooth decay, gum disease, and even tooth loss can result.

If plaque is not removed regularly, tartar forms at the gum line. A dental hygienist must remove tartar as it can lead to gum disease. The hygienist removes tartar with an ultrasonic scaler or hand scaler, mirror, and a water gun to rinse. This is a common procedure during a dental clean. It is possible to keep this procedure to a minimum by flossing and brushing your teeth at home.

Cleaning and Polishing your Teeth

Your Comeaux Dental The Woodlands & Spring dental hygienist cleans and polishes the teeth using a professional-grade electric toothbrush. Your hygienist then applies gritty toothpaste to remove any tartar and clean your teeth more vigorously than home brushes.

Your dental hygienist will clean your teeth and then floss between them as the final step of the teeth cleaning process. You may choose to have a fluoride treatment after flossing and rinsing.

Comeaux Dental hygienists have the skills and training to polish and clean your teeth without causing damage to the enamel. This allows you to relax and enjoy the process.

Maintaining Proper Oral Hygiene

Follow any recommendations or instructions given by your dentist, including scheduling follow-up appointments. Keep your teeth clean at home by brushing and flossing regularly.
